Memphis Merits How To's
You are probably wondering, "How do I win a Memphis Merit Award?" Well, here's the scoop!
1. Memphis Merits can only be earned by KG N MC Just On Fire, "Memphis,” and his direct offspring (or grand offspring).
2. This Merit Program is designed to complement the incentive programs Memphis & offspring are eligible for, that being said, barrel racing sidepots, points and merit awards will be restricted to futurity aged horses and older.

Membership:
1. Membership Year (to follow futurity guidelines): November 15th through November 30th of the following year (example 11/15/2022 through 11/30/2023)
2. In order to be eligible to run at designated sidepot money and/or earn points, the Memphis Offspring information including registered name and copy of registration papers, will need to be submitted.
3. Rider must have a current membership, as this is where the current information for your address for awards will be pulled from, and how earnings will be submitted to equistat.

3. Points per money (Number of points to award for each dollar won): 2
4. Placement points (The number of points awarded for each placement beginning with 1st place; 10 points to 1st place, 9 points to 2nd place, and so on for 10 places): 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
5. Points are applied to current memberships ONLY (Points to be applied ONLY to those who are members at the time points are applied
6. Points by horse (Total points by rider and horse, not by rider only)

Divisions & Events:
1. Merits and sidepots can be earned for any timed or judged event, event must be submitted to Jill and approved with all entries and dues ran through saddlebook prior to event in order for points/earnings to count.
2. Year-end Divisions:
a) Year-end points will accrue in divisions contestant is eligible for and designates at the time of membership.
b) There will be 4 Main Disciplines from which year-end points may be accrued; barrel racing, roping events, horse shows, and gaming. From within these 4 Main Disciplines, depending on interest, the total sum of year-end points will be ranked from most points to least points. Placings and awards will be determined depending on numbers and sponsorships.
c) Roping events (breakaway, team roping, and tie down roping) are all eligible to accrue points for year-end and earn money in sidepots from final score sheets.
d) Horse Shows (Halter, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Trail) are all eligible to accrue points for year end and earn money in sidepots from judged placing upon final score sheets.
e) Gaming (Pole Bending, Figure 8 Stake Race, Speed Barrels, California Stake Race, Keyhole, and Flag Race) are all eligible to accrue points for year end and earn money in sidepots from judged placing upon final score sheets.
Barrel Racing Sidepots:
1. All entries and memberships are final. No discount or refund of any kind will be provided.
2. Sidepots for barrel racing; futurity, derby, open, youth, senior, prime, and amateur, are entered via Saddlebook from designated and approved race.
3. Official & final time sheet/score sheet from race producer will be used and must be received prior to sidepot and/or points being calculated, and payouts sent.
1. Futurity:
a) Offspring may not have competed for any financial compensation, or points, prior to their announced futurity season beginning November 15th of the preceding year. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
b) The first foal crop to be eligible to run as futurity horses were born in 2019, therefore they are technically eligible to run as futurity horses beginning November 15, 2022 as coming 4 year olds for the 2023 season, or they have the option to run beginning November 15, 2023 as coming 5 year olds for the 2024 season. (Remember a futurity horse has only 1 futurity year).
c) Offspring that are 4 or 5 years of age may compete. A copy of the offspring registration papers including the backside must be on file prior to race entry. All AQHA and APHA offspring must be registered to compete. In the event enrolled offspring outside of AQHA and APHA is not registered, proof of parentage verification thru UC Davis will be required.
2. Derby:
a) To follow the Breeders Challenge age format; horses within the program will have 3 consecutive years to run as a Derby horse directly following their futurity year. For example, if the horse is run as a 5 year old for the 2024 season (starting 11/15/23), the 3 derby years will start for the horse's 6 year old year, 12/1/2024 for the 2025 season, and the horse will be able to run in the derby through the end of its 8 year old year, ending 11/30/2027.
3. Open:
a) Both futurity and derby horses may also enter the open sidepot.
b) All eligible horses may enter the Open.
4. Youth:
a) Both futurity and derby horses may also enter the youth sidepot.
b) All eligible horses may enter the Open.
c) Contestants must be 17 or younger at time of entry to be approved to compete.
5. Prime:
a) Both futurity and derby horses may also enter the prime sidepot.
b) All eligible horses may enter the Open.
c) Contestant must be 18 through 49 years old at the time of entry to be approved to compete.
6. Senior:
a) Both futurity and derby horses may also enter the senior sidepot.
b) All eligible horses may enter the Open.
c) Contestants must be 50 or older at time of entry to be approved to compete.
7. Amateur:
a) Both futurity and derby horses may also enter the Amateur sidepot.
b) All eligible horses may enter the Open.
c) To follow Breeders Challenge Rules: Rider must upload and be able to provide their Breed Association Amateur Card with entry to race. Rider understands and agrees to the terms associated herein qualifying and holding an amateur card. Should a rider be found to be in non-compliance with the terms of their amateur status, they will be disqualified. Rider will have 14 business days from receipt of disqualification to return 100% of prize moneys, prizes, and awards for redistribution to eligible members. d) Rider may not receive any monetary compensation for riding or training horses to the outside public for a period of 3 years.
e) Riders must be 18 years of age or older. Riders under 18 years of age are ineligible for the Amateur.
f) Rider must own the offspring they enter. Proof of LLC, Inc., Ranch Name, or Familial Relation must be provided if the riders name is not designated on the registration papers.
